East State Street Park is on East State Street a quarter-mile to a half-mile east of US-33. It is the westernmost end of the former Ohio University Airport. The maintenance building close to East State Street is one of the remnant buildings of the airport.

The park features a community center with meeting rooms, indoor gym, weight room, and other amenities, and also tennis courts, a skateboard park, playground, picnic facilities, and a dog park. The Hockhocking Adena Bikeway borders the park and has access into the park.

Facilities within the community center are rentable. See the City of Athens website.

The Athens County Convention and Visitors Center is within the park, fronting on East State Street at the park entrance. A wildflower garden has been developed in its back yard. There is an herb garden farther back in the park.

The main parking area also is roofed by solar photovoltaic collectors.

Directions

From the center of Athens, take State Street East 1.6 miles from Court Street to the park entrance, which is also a quarter-mile past the US-33 overpass.
