Forests are good for us humans. They make us healthier and happier, and nourish our souls. They’re good for our community, offering spaces for recreation, reflection, and exploration. And forests are good for the planet. They purify the air we breathe, provide vital habitat for wildlife, and mitigate climate change by capturing and storing carbon.
Athens Conservancy works to preserve precious, forested lands in southeastern Ohio. But it is crucial to keep those forests healthy too, and stewarding the land to sustain long-term resiliency takes work and vision. It is our responsibility as caretakers of the land to control invasive non-native plants… to nurture natural habitats for wildlife … and to keep our trails open, accessible and inviting.
Our Healthy Forest Fund fully supports efforts to care for our lands, keeping them healthy and resilient today and for future generations.
You can help by donating to the Healthy Forest Fund. All donations support land stewardship efforts, including the work and forest management of a half-time land steward who oversees and prioritizes care of our forests and trails.
Please give to support our land stewardship efforts today. The forests depend on us.
Healthy Forest Friends
In 2022, we gratefully welcomed a generous group of Healthy Forest Friends, whose significant donations had tremendous impact on the care of our 3,000 acres of special spaces and wild places. Thanks to these forest friends, we were able to expand and strengthen our efforts to protect and care for 3,000 acres of natural land, helping to nurture crucial wildlife habitat and keep 10 miles of foot trails accessible for the public to explore and enjoy. We continue to welcome Healthy Forest Friends as partners in our efforts to care for the lands we love.
