Jackson Lake State Park is a very small park, with two well-separated state-owned areas fronting on Jackson Lake. The main attraction at the park is certainly the lake, which is wholly owned by the Division of State Parks, although only small portions of the shoreline are. The main activities at the park are boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, and camping. The campground, with spaces, is RV-friendly.

To reach Jackson Lake State Park from Athens, take OH-32 west 37 miles from US-33 to OH-93. Take the OH-93 exit and turn left. Go 11.6 miles to OH-279 West in the village of Oak Hill. Turn right to the park; you will enter the park at 1.1 miles. The boat ramp is on the left. Go another quarter mile and turn right on Tommy Bean Road (County Road 8) to reach the swimming beach, picnic areas, and campground. Total driving distance from downtown Athens to the camground: 52 miles.
